Journal — Environment

The place you live in is working for you. Or against you.

The environment where we spend our days is never neutral. Every space influences how we breathe, rest, focus and recover energy.

We grow used to the places we spend time in every day.

To the home we live in.

To the office we work in.

To background noise.

To artificial light.

To objects accumulated over time.

So much so that we stop noticing them.

And yet our body keeps registering them.

Every environment continuously sends information to our nervous system: light, colour, temperature, order, materials, sound, scent, air quality.

We don't realise it, but the body records it all.

That's why a space can make us feel welcomed, or keep us in a constant state of tension.

What actually helps

A home doesn't need to be perfect.

It needs to support recovery.

A space where you can breathe better.

Sleep better.

Slow down.

Recover attention.

Finally feel at home.

A single balance

For years we considered the environment something external to our wellbeing.

Today we know that the way we inhabit places profoundly shapes the way we live ourselves.

That's why, at Frangipani Home, the person and the environment are not two separate paths. They are two parts of the same balance.

A question to carry with you

When you walk back into your home after an intense day, does your environment truly help you recover energy?

If this article gave you something to think about, I'd be glad to hear your story.
